Back in February Theogren Balakrishnan expressed his interest in climbing Kilimanjaro and by May, a gap in his work schedule opened and plans for his adventure for a 7-day Lemosho Route in August were set in motion! Upon his arrival to Kilimanjaro on Sun 31st July, Guide Nechi Teti informed me that Theogren had changed his mind and had opted for the Umbwe Route instead. This is a challenging route, especially pertaining to the first couple of days’ steep ascent to Barranco Camp, so imagine my surprise when Nechi let know they skipped overnighting at Barranco camp from Umbwe Cave camp and were already at Karanga and heading for the summit that night! Not only did Theogren reach the summit in the early hours of Thu 04th Aug, but they came off the mountain same day too! Congratulations Theogren on your amazing achievement of a 4-day Umbwe route trek!

The Van Den Berg & Calitz families travelled to Zanzibar from Sat 20 – Sat 27 Aug ’22 and combined a stay at My Blue Hotel with a last night at Mizingani Sea Front Hotel in Stone Town.

“On behalf of myself and my family, I just want to thank you for the most amazing, unforgettable holiday experience we had in Zanzibar!
We had a fantastic time, we swam with the sea turtles, visited Prison Island, Nakupenda, Jozani Forest, the Kuza Caves, Stone Town and did a Spice Tour.
Thank you for arranging everything for us and in particular your ground handler on the island and their guides. They were so well organized, we never had to wait, always friendly and helpful. We could ask them anything and they went out of their way to help, from finding ATM’s, to tea in Stone Town.
We had such a relaxing time at My Blue Hotel and Mizingani Sea Front Hotel was also an experience, it felt like we were inside a Wilbur Smith novel and stayed like sheikhs. It was within easy walking distance to tourists destinations and the Forodhani night market.
It was so amazing as there was something to do for every one of us as well, as our own special interests which were met”
